Here is something I recently wrote to the Lord concerning God’s direction for my life:

Heavenly Father, I will not do anything unless I have a clear witness that the Holy Spirit is leading. I will become more sensitive to Your guidance and direction. Father, lead the way—and I will follow.

Following the leadership of the Holy Spirit is as simple as using a GPS in a car, it will lead you where you need to go. All I have to do is follow the directions given. Psalm 3:5-6 tells us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path. The results are stunning when we completely Him and look to Him for guidance.

“Leading the way” is what God is doing for us all the time. Isaiah 58:11 says that, “The Lord shall guide you continually.” Psalm 37:23 in the New Living Translation reveals that, “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” We should praise God daily for sending us the Holy Spirit. Why? Because as we read in John 16:13, “When He, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.”

The heart of God is to guide, direct, lead and shows us His path, His plan and His way. He will warn us of the dangers ahead. He will provide wisdom for difficult situations, and lead us into divine opportunities. Turn to the Lord right now and simply ask Him to lead the way. After that, all you need to do is follow Him!

Following His lead,

Dr. Ken Greene
