Both Kenneth and Mary have conducted marriage seminars/retreats across the nation. “He has an incredible gift for marriage and family counseling,” Larry James, the Executive President of Central Dallas Ministries in east Dallas says. Larry continues,  “He enjoys kids, and he has a tremendous capacity to develop leadership in people.” Texas Sen. Eddie Bernice Johnson honored Greene in 1999 for making Dallas “a better place to live, work, learn and raise our families. He and his wife make a dynamic pair, providing people with hope and leadership. They have tuned their hearts to people put aside and left out.”

The Dallas Morning News and WFAA-TV have both featured Greene and his ministries and joined him as corporate sponsors for several projects.

Kenneth is a 1991 doctoral graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California. He preaches for the Metro Church of Christ, Cedar Hill, Texas (since 1989). Kenneth is also a retired State Chaplain for the Texas Army National Guard where he served in the rank of Colonel. Kenneth have authored and co-authored several books.

Mary is a graduate of Winston-Salem State University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina (B.S.) and holds two teaching certifications. Abilene Christian University president, Dr. Royce Money (‘64) says, the people Greene help are people who have found the Lord for the first time in their lives. The thing that impressed me about Ken and his ministry is that he is going after totally unchurched people in his area,” Money adds.

Dr. Greene knew very clearly in his heart that God called him to preach, and therefore, placed a yearning, and a passion in his spirit to plant a church, so he prepared himself accordingly, spiritually, academically, and practically. So on Sunday, Jan. 1, 1989, he and Mary met with seven others in what was the small, but promising, beginning of the Metro Church of Christ. They studied the needs of the Dallas suburbs of DeSoto, Lancaster, Duncanville, Grand Prairie and Oak Cliff and mapped out a 15-year plan for the congregation.

Dr. Greene accepted ACU’s Distinguished Alumni Citation “on behalf of the community and church. Dr. Greene says, that the award is recognition that servant-leadership, coupled with compassion, is the answer for the political and moral question of our time – the need for man to overcome oppression and violence without resorting to violence and oppression…I come as a steward, for in the depths of my heart I am aware that this award is much more than an honor to me personally.”
